I made a remark on one of my blogs how I thought Catherine and Peter Marshall were helpful in the Move of the \Holy Spirit that characterized the mainline and catholic churches in the 60's and 70's. However in reading The Best of Catherine Marshall edited by Leonard LeSourd her second husband I found this astounding fact. One of the principals at Guidepost John I think was entering the hospital for an operation on a possible cancer. Catherine being obedient and knowing he wasn't a Christian asked to meet with him. He and his wife came over and Catherine laid out the plan of salvation to him, he didn't accept Christ right then but on the way from her house he made a conscious decision to accept Christ and told his wife he was a Christian. Making the story short, Guidepost was trying to make a decision on whether or not to do a series on a young charismatic preacher named Dave Wilkerson who was having some success among the gangs in NYC. The now Christian Editor made the decision to take the leap of faith and go with the series. (The reasoning here is that had he not made the decision to become a Christian he would not done the series on Wilkerson.) What happened was that John and another writer at Guidepost decided to turn the series into a book, the Cross and the Switchblade which sold millions of copies and was turned into a motion picture starring Pat Boone. (I recommend Pats book on his Pentecostal experience too.) The Inward nudging that she, Catherine met with this man that was in her field of service, (people within your influence the Lord put's on your heart) had a tremendous influence on Christendom and helped birth the ministry of Dave Wilkerson who founded, Teen Challenge. You just never know what a single act of being faithful to God will mean. God bless listen to the inner Voice of God. In Christ...
